Since the launch of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of characters, and a gripping narrative featuring celestial beings, demons, and sinister influences increasing in strength within the city.
Warning: Spoilers for the latest installment of the new season lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Introduced
Episode 3 finished on a dramatic pause and revealed the first table of adventurers who will branch out from the main group to begin their own adventure, distinct from the additional parties.
This warrior group consists of Teor (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (Laura), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
Considering 13 cast members, it was obvious from the start that having everyone at a single group would be unworkable.
Hence, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, intertwining the characters’ stories before splitting into three separate parties: Soldiers, Schemers, and Questers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
Per the DM, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who prefer a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven story mode where non-violent answers are few and far between.
At first glance, characters like the reluctant priest the cleric might look unsuited, but the actions of the third episode show why these five characters are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Reasons to Leave
First, the group understands precisely where to go next after a intense initial meeting with the antagonists.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose demise initiated the narrative’s action—manipulated the enemy for his selfish purposes, entering the hidden lair, assaulting the rogue, and swiping all the enchanted items to dispose of.
The traitor then paid off his obligations and ran away to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the city, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each member has a individual motive to exit the metropolitan area:
- Thimble, as the companion and best friend, wants retribution.
- The knowledgeable figure has experience in Timmony and warns that it is a nasty environment.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having resisted his house’s orders to eliminate the target and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their reputation as important members in the influential clan could assist the group reach locations they usually can’t.
- Moreover, The grateful character vowed a unbreakable promise to The savior for his salvation and will now go with him wherever.
Pursued by Authorities
Finally, all of them are wanted by the authorities that control Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making staying in the city too risky:
- The rogue and The hero are notorious outlaws.
- Tyranny and Wicander defied the influential house and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- Teor is targeted for elimination by the clan.
This means them no alternative but to journey toward Timmony in search of the traitor.
Upcoming Developments
From the latest episode’s follow-up content, we discover that the combat party won’t be around the following episode, leaving the remaining eight players to round up the Explorers and Planners tables.
Fans can anticipate learning which characters will be assigned to which table in the story’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on October 24.
